Spiritual Consequences Of Sexual Harassment

On this planet, even Mother Teresa would post #MeToo.

Sad but true. Most everyone has been aware of Sexual Harassment long before Alyssa Milano and the #MeToo tag and posts across Twitter, Facebook and the other virtual continents of social media. And the majority of women victimized by it weren’t anywhere near the Entertainment Industry or a dream stained casting couch.

I’ve heard stories from women I know over the years from music, dance, modeling, Hollywood and everyday life at corner package stores and checkout lines.

It’s amazing still hearing men using the “She was dressed provocatively” excuse in their defense. Guys, You learned to control your bowels at around 3 years old so why is this so difficult? There’s also “primitive” societies around the world where women walk around nearly nude and topless due to the climate who aren’t sexually harassed so what’s your excuse?

Granted the people that really need to read this article and take a deep look at themselves and their behavior are the ones who won’t bother. Their ego, arrogance, narcissism and sense of entitlement form a massive wall of denial that excuses their behavior to themselves.

But the fact of the matter is even if you don’t ever get caught or sued in a legal setting, there ARE consequences of Sexual Harassment beyond just your Human life.

The What And Why Of Sexual Harassment

Let’s call it for what it is on the spectrum of Higher Consciousness: Sexual Harassment is spiritually pathetic. It’s another example of DNA at it’s lowest level of expression—the toxic cacophony that includes power, war, terrorism, tribalism, religious fanaticism, mental rigidity, gang violence, racism, and sexism among others.

See the behavior for what it is. Sexual Harassment is done by those with lower consciousness so don’t be fooled by someone’s back account, success or level of fame.

Sexual Harassment is about power but ironically it’s done by those without power—Spiritual power. The economic and social power that the abuser often has is temporary and positional. Spiritual power isn’t and doesn’t depend on others fearing you or being subordinate to you in any way. You can still have Spiritual power stranded on a deserted island. Your economic and social power? Forget it. The palm trees don’t give a rat’s ass you’re a CEO, film mogul, famous athlete or media personality.

Sexual Harassment is done by men who have no authentic Spiritual practice and have no greater experiences and pursuits than sex and money.

There’s also men who pose as enlightened gurus and use spirituality as a ruse to sexually harass and abuse their female followers. This is particularly heinous due to the ongoing psychological manipulations and long term damage to victims who are often young and underage.

On a deeper level, the current form of Humanity is a primitive species. Earth is one of the lower worlds. Our sun is a small star so Humanity doesn’t grow at a faster pace in consciousness. If our sun was bigger it would send out more energy which causes greater and faster Spiritual Growth. These aren’t easy things to hear because it’s not the “pat on the back” anthropocentric view of ourselves we like mirrored back at us in TV, film, literature and religion.

The fact is, we’re a long way from the evolved culture portrayed in Star Trek.

Poor Role Models

From Hollywood to Hip Hop, the prizes most often portrayed across culture and media are money and women. Men fantasize about a Hugh Hefner Playboy life like there’s nothing higher than it or the Universe has nothing grander and beyond those in the vaults of Infinity.

There’s more scum in Hollywood than Mos Eisley spaceport.

Millions are stuck in the culturally fixated worship of he benchmarks of materialism: money, power and sex.

Harvey Weinstein, Bill O’Reilly, Roger Ailes, Bill Cosby, some presidents, actors and professional athletes, the list goes on and on. You don’t have to look too deeply to find entitled bulldog egos in the kind of men who sexually harass women. Some hide it better than others as that’s why it’s called acting. The public sees their “fame face” and thinks that’s who they are 24/7.

The sad reality is, I live on a planet where people are constantly excusing the behavior of abusers because of their money, power and fame. It’s like they cannot believe people who’ve attained the success they dream of are capable of such behavior.

If you have to excuse or defend your heroes, get better heroes.

How about raising the bar? There are male role models like Yogananda and the Dalai Lama. Find any dirt on men like them. You also don’t need to excuse, rationalize, defend or intellectualize away their behaviors because there aren’t ethical violations on other people. Look up to role models who live a higher degree of ethics.

The Human experience is too limited for Yogis who seek to transcend it. They don’t wish to get bogged down in the endless addictions, distractions and attachments on the Earth Plane and actively practice to rise above it.

If you need a more “down to Earth” role model, Paul Newman was light years from douchebag as well. Look at all the positive charitable things he did with his wealth and fame. That’s called GRATITUDE, which is a polar opposite of ego, arrogance, entitlement and narcissism. His legacy isn’t stained with shame and disgrace or the Karmic damage incurred when abusing the gifts of wealth, fame and power.

Deeper Consequences

If you mistreat any girl or woman, how is the Divine Mother ever going to like that? People with lower consciousness do not have such forethought and don’t believe there are consequences to their actions outside of this dimension. And that is beyond dead wrong as they will not be pleasantly surprised by.

You can’t hide from or fool Divine Beings. They see you on levels you cannot even see yet. Only an unconscious person ignores that fact and violates the freewill of others for their own needs or addictions. Doing so is sociopathic behavior. Sociopaths have little to no concern for how their behavior affects others. The also do not care about the consequences of their behavior.

You can’t wear the Halloween costume of lip service faith, and be the “Go to church on Sundays” crowd and expect it to pass off as genuine to Beings with Higher Consciousness. You can hide your behaviors and thoughts from your friends, family, co–workers and neighbors but not them.

Those who get away with Sexual Harassment, they’re only getting away with it on Earth.

Keep that in mind. With behaviors like Sexual Harassment, doorways to Higher Consciousness and greater powers will be closed to abusers. Such abuse is not evolved behavior and definitely not looked upon favorably. The material powers of money, fame and status abusers wield on Earth are small change compared to what’s out there in Higher Dimensions.

When you commit Sexual Harassment, rape, sexual abuse, molestation, domestic abuse you are disrespecting the Divine Mother—which is part of you and everyone, part of WHAT is sustaining your own life. There is enormous negative Karma for doing such things against forces that sustain you. These are all very deep spiritual crimes that cause lasting psychic damage to victims. And that Karmic boomerang you set in motion doing such acts will return to the red handed source of the reckless ripple better than laser guided munitions one way or another.

Higher Ethics

God, the Creator, or whatever you want to call the ultimate creative energy of the Universe, manifests itself in countless forms yet still exists outside of all form and beyond all form. And all Gods and Goddesses are part of the Body of God. Beings who are beyond form can manifest in a myriad of forms to better connect with people and races at a more familiar comfortable relatable level of their understanding.

The Divine Mother can manifest as Mary and fiercer forms like Durga and Kali, the Goddess of the Siddhas. Even Yogis who don’t want to or need to be with women anymore still honor and seek the Divine Feminine archetypal energy of the Universe. So it may only appear as “renunciation” at an Earthy level. Both male and female energies are needed to become more of the whole.

And to pass the tests of Kali, one has to have zero impurities as she sees all your flaws, all your darkness. All such dreck must be burned away before she grants one passage to the level of consciousness of a Siddha. Needless to say, Sexual Harassment is not something the fierce Mother Goddess looks kindly upon. She cannot be bought, tricked or coerced. Billionaires are still ants compared to the wattage she cranks out. And anyone who wants to dance with Kali, best be sure their hand or even thoughts don’t slip inappropriately.

It’s hard to prevent antisocial and predatory behavior in people who are so unconscious, asleep and spiritually poor they don’t understand the value of a clean conscience. And millions or billions of dollars can never buy it.

Worldly money, power and fame do not by themselves give Higher Consciousness. Instead they more often become stumbling blocks to it. The observation Jesus made over 2,000 years ago about it being easier for a camel to pass through the eye of the needle than for a rich man getting into Heaven is just as accurate today, perhaps more so in our time period with it’s greater wealth and power lateralization and panoplies of distractions.

Still, there are advanced Yogis whom all worldly pursuits are a joke to, a waste of their time on the planet. The things most men seek are bread crumbs compared to the forces they are connected to. The abilities and experiences that are normal for people at their level of consciousness are off the scale of the material world. Even a few appetizers of experiences from these Greater Realms and it’s all over for many.

You really can get to this point without even being advanced. It’s surprising. It makes you see human life from a higher plateau how “lost in matter” most people are because you have reacquainted with yourself on higher more subtle levels of the ultimate reality of YOU, which your physical human body form is only a small part.

In my pursuits towards Higher Consciousnss, I’ve had encounters with fiercer facets of the Divine Mother (Divine Archetypal Female Energies) in the forms of Durga and Kali. Kali hammered myself and another friend of mine—lots of energetic and emotional upheaval.

Durga has periodically dredged up several dark internal weeds and energetic albatross anchors in me as well. All these occurred during voluntary practices and ceremonies mind you. Furthermore, my friend and I haven’t committed the devolved behaviors of the abuses and transgressions against women mentioned here.

The Divine Mother’s standards of purity and integrity far exceed and are far more rigorous than Man’s. This is what is meant that the Divine Mother, with your permission and request, will knock all darkness and impurities out of you to hammer out the sword of your spine to her precision forging and attunements. These were unbeneficial things inside me I myself could not yet perceive and I’ve been on this path for a few decades. And those were kind, friendly wallops. For the men guilty of the topics in this article, what do you think you’re going to get?

What’s going to happen to you when meet more powerful female energies in this Universe who do not require bodies, meaning your physical size and strength as a man in a mortal frame does not apply? Ever think about that?

And with that, Sexual Harassment is seen as another form of spiritual poverty in the person who engages in such behavior—Someone who is asleep, a soul still in diapers who hasn’t passed even entry level soul tests.

And they not only accrue heapings of negative Karma for hurting others but close doors to themselves to wealth beyond their limited levels of understanding all for small temporary pleasures.

And moreover, worldly success does not hide spiritual failures.

These are general principles and observations I try to live by and navigate the wilderness of Maya with. Some are Confucius sounding hence the jest with the title if the long bearded Chinese sage wanted to narcissistically self–aggrandize himself.

1. Recorded history is just the current pop music on the planet. It’s also anthropocentric. There’s all this other music the planet has heard that people never will.

2. The war that matters most is liberation from your ego. Turn the binoculars inward to find where the real enemies and traitors are.

3. If you’re always in a hurry, how in control of your life are you? People think it makes them important when in reality makes them numb, distracted and asleep. It makes people’s consciousness scattered and paper thin. If you are truly in control of your life, then you wouldn’t be in a rush or hurry all the time.

6. Money, knowledge and power in the hands of degenerated thinking is a vineyard of evil.

7. Don’t waste time with the secondhand battles of the ego. They’re just diversionary skirmishes keeping you in the prison of it’s identities of race, country, religion and gender wearing the blindfold of pride.

8. The inside jokes of the Universe are so worth it.

9. There’s Higher Consciousness and then there’s “success” here. The level of consciousness needed to become a millionaire or billionaire isn’t very high. The fact remains you cannot buy Higher Consciousness with money.

Hair Metal Heaven: Cinderella “If You Don’t Like It”

VenueKings.com

Ah, one of my favorite deep cuts of Hair Metal. This is Hair Metal having a bad hair day. This is Hair Metal Sweeney Todd would rock out to while practicing his horrific handiwork. If you've only heard Tom Keifer wail away on Cinderella singles released to radio, you'll be pleasantly pleased with this ear shattering escapade in E mixolydian. "If You Don't Like It" delivers bluesy banshee riffs with Tom's trademark sonic screams galloping on an uptempo iron horse.

"If You Don't Like It" is a track off Cinderella's sophomore album Long Cold Winter released in 1988. Long Cold Winter reached #10 on the charts and went double platinum by year's end. The album produced the Hair Metal classic "Gypsy Road" and the power ballad "Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)" which holds as the highest charting single for Cinderella reaching the #12 slot. Long Cold Winter also included the singles "The Last Mile" and "Coming Home" which just edged in the top 20. "If You Don't Like It" is a fun FU song in the tradition of The Eagle's "Already Gone", Billy Joel's "My Life", and Metallica's "Escape." Tom Keifer carried this grand gospel of youthful declaration of independence to Hair Metal.

I don't need anyone
To tell me how to run my life
Got along alright so far
I don't really think I need to hear your advice
I've got my mind made up know what I wanna do
I'll do it anyway I choose
So just sit back shut up for a minute let me show you what I'm gonna do

Funny how a band name like Cinderella began in a location not exactly red carpet velvet rope glass slipper territory. Guitarist Tom Keifer and bassist Eric Brittingham met in a bar bathroom on Halloween in 1980. There's an "I Just Knew" tale that could stack up to the best of those relationship and wedding story TV shows. Actually Keifer and Brittingham had also revolved through the same Philadelphia area band Saints In Hell earlier.

We can't talk about Cinderella without mentioning fellow brotherly love band Britny Fox. Britney Fox was formed by 2 former Cinderella members: Guitarist Michael Kelly Smith and drummer Tony Destra. It's a Hair Metal fairy tale of the birth of 2 bands like Metallica and Megadeth minus the some kind of soap opera monster of drug abuse that always upstages people's lives.

Just over 2 hours outside Philly in Mechanicsburg, yet another 80's Hair Metal band was cutting their chops on nightclub stages before relocating to L.A.: Poison. Across the state line just south of the PA border in nearby Hagerstown, Maryland, Kix was blowing fuses in the club circuit. This general area was at the crosshairs of the east coast Hair Metal invasion. A decade earlier, the Philly area sprouted some Hall & Oates, who became one of the most successful duos of all time. Afterwards acts out of the Philly area that achieved prominence were R&B/Soul/New Jack Swing group Boyz II Men and Trance Fusion/Jam band the Disco Biscuits.

Kobo Inc.

O'Neill, La Jolla Group

There's several vocalists in the Hair Metal Howler club I get my regular guilty pleasure fix along with Tom Keifer: "Dizzy" Dean Davidson of Britny Fox and Steve Whiteman from Kix. They continue the vocal styling of 70's rock bands like AC/DC, Aerosmith, and Nazareth which Tom Keifer could easily go back and time and fill in on a gig for Dan McCafferty singing "Hair Of The Dog" and only Dan's mom would probably notice.

"Nobody's Fool" firmly established Cinderella in the subgenre of pissed off maverick glam as their flagship song from their debut album Night Songs which reached the #13 position. The noble tradition continued on Long Cold Winter with "If You Don't Like It":

Take it to your heart gonna tell ya from the start
Gonna send a word or two your way
So just sit back take a ride on your pony
It'll all come back to you one day

There's so many cool parts to this tune: The strummed chords in the intro and overlaying spacious atmospheric whammy bar work, the main riff which becomes the bedrock for the chorus, the pulsating driving rhythm in verse like a steaming locomotive loaded with boxcars of boiling beratement, the slinky blues based snub your nose dalliance of the prechorus. There's even a Jon Bon Jovi sighting at the end of this clip if that's not enough:

As to Cinderella, the band had more in common with her maid rags as the preferred "Royal Ball" stage fashion during the 1980's than fairy tale footwear. Tom Keifer prefers wearing snakeskin boots when strolling down Gypsy Roads anyway, and if you don't like it, he's gone on record here on the probability of a care package arriving during a Long Cold Winter in Hell.

1. The general public so easily confuses the controversial with genius and visionary.

2. Maybe the human experience is crack and meditation is like going to rehab.

3. The me that talks isn't the real me. The me that thinks isn't the real me. The me that feels isn't the real me. I reside in quiet repose somewhere beyond all perceivable horizons.

4. If emotions were accurate the breakup and divorce rate would be zero.

5. All the weapons in the world from the most basic spear to the most powerful bomb have one thing in common: None of them can destroy one iota of your karma.

8. The real gold in this Universe is working with higher forms of energy where a lot more can be done in a lot less time instead of being stuck in lethargic 3rd dimensional reality.

9. When you compare all the ways to get high, meditation has the best price.

10. It's all just a window through the train of time. Scenes pass, people get on, people get off. Few stay on for the duration to the final destination because they can't see it's even there. What they see are only the heads of the people in front of them and the faces of those behind them. At every stop, passengers get off to join crowds at different life stations for momentary laughs and smiles. But the few in the back who've rode the train for aeons whispered to me, "Let them go...they're not like you...just don't get off the train early."

Closet Singles: Devo “Later Is Now”

IK Multimedia - iRig KEYS

Major Earworm sure brings his dance battalion with this one. Devo’s dance track “Later Is Now” off their 2010 album Something For Everybody is a tantalizing time warp back to Whip It Ville. It’s so retro you might not realize this wasn’t a track you forgot about from the 80’s. Something For Everybody was also the last album with the original 2 sets of founding spud brothers (kinda like Blood Brothers only Devoized): Mark Mothersbaugh, Bob Mothersbaugh, Gerald Casale, and Bob Casale. Guitarist/keyboardist/backing vocalist Bob Casale passed away in 2014. Devo sure revisited their spud roots here and paid homage to their earlier selves with this noble offering to the God of Energy Domes. And I’m sure Bob traded in his Red Dome for a White one Gandalf style, not Gangnam Style.

Inevitably however, certain things happen periodically in the music industry beyond anyone’s control:

A) Right band at the wrong time
B) Right track at the wrong time

These are two of the common Whammy Bars success gets sh*tfaced at and stands you up for a date. This tune is a classic case of the latter. Later Is Now was never released as a single but this track could’ve been a dancefloor anthem back in the day. So instead of the John Cusack film Hot Tub Time Machine, how about Hot Track Time Machine? The plot being going back in time and spinning some discs that never saw the light of day. Kinda like Quantum Leap—only correcting the playlists of the past.

And while we’re on dancefloor dalliances in alternate realities, Later Is Now sounds like it could’ve been a hit in George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty–Four (also published as 1984) assuming they allowed dance clubs like The BBC: Big Brother Club. Notice the title of Devo’s tune is very Newspeak & Doublethink like “War is Peace”, “Freedom is Slavery”, and “Ignorance is Strength”—“Later Is Now.” However I think local watering holes there are outnumbered by Memory Holes. Winston Smith’s “club days” would be spent at the Ministry of Dance in pair of concrete shoes and any shredding going on there would be with documents not guitars.

“Later Is Now” would definitely be on my old school Emerson imitation woodgrain vinyl turntable that looks like you just won the bid for on The Price Is Right. I can hear this tune on the radio alongside Whip It—were it written and released during the 80’s new wave/synthpop heyday, it very likely would have been a huge dance club hit perhaps even with crossover appeal. Maybe I’m alone here but I’d like to have seen Don Cornelius and the Soul Train dancers sporting Energy Domes just once.

I say this from the perspective of having been to dance clubs and also from years doing performance videography in such environments as well as weddings. It strikes me that this track has the whimsical jubilant exuberance and upbeat energy that can sufficiently pack a dancefloor. I mean Kool & The Gang’s classic “Celebration”, Sister Sledge’s “We Are Family” and the Bee Gees “Stayin’ Alive” work every time for clubs and weddings and all these songs are at slower tempos than “Later Is Now.”

Entertainment EarthVenueKings.com

Let’s revisit the “B” situation mentioned earlier for a moment. If you’re been in a band or are an astute observer of musical trends, you’ll see how styles come and go then come back in style again. The same thing happens in the fashion world as well. One band I was in seemed a victim of the “Right band at the wrong time” phenomenon. We were aiming to be “Toto with a female vocalist” albeit a few decades after the fact. Had we been around in the early 80’s at the highpoint of audience and recording company interest in musically intricate well–arranged adult contemporary power pop, we’ll I might have a few Joe Walsh “Life’s Been Good” pieces of real estate, matching speeding tickets and be more frequently answering the question “Are all these your guitars?”

Possibly our band could have been sandwiched between Toto IV and Lionel Ritchie’s Can’t Slow Down which were monster successes during that musical era—at the very least, much more easily than when we were performing and recording as a group with those same leanings. Even so, there were moments with that band when we started getting recognition and were thinking, “Holy crap, this could REALLY go somewhere.” And for reasons stated above, the fickleness of the industry and unpredictable tradewinds of audience tastes and interests shifts to something else leaving once well known acts behind (like Devo post “Whip It”) and bands that could have had their day in the sun a raincheck instead of a soundcheck and more importantly royalty checks. As a side note, without turning this article into a supermarket Tabloid (or would that be Guitar Tab–loid?), I will say this particular original band I was in did have a ballad that was voted #1 for several weeks on an internet site beating a nationally known act (that would be Los Lobos—yes, the “La Bamba” Los Lobos which covered Ritchie Valens’ 1958 hit back in 1987 to international fame). We also surprisingly had fans in Russia, which was a location where the market lag of exported western 80’s power pop was still a fresh ripe style in season for ravenous Russian ears.

But that’s all water under the guitar bridge. The fact is whatever decade it was recorded in, “Later Is Now” pumps out some good ol’ fashioned genuine high energy fun—picture it with laser lights, multiple stages, smoke machines and subwoofers around a few hundred slightly inebriated people in the sardine can of any given nightclub—it’s so chock full of carefree revelry you’ll forget you’re probably in a fire hazard and among a few OSHA violations. Dancing Under the Influence (DUI) however is not considered one of them.

The opening electronica synth sequencer bed in Later Is Now evokes hints of Duran Duran’s “Rio” and “Hungry Like The Wolf” and Pat Benatar’s “We Belong.” Then the “Enter The Dragon” flanging wall of sound guitar chords cue you in that this tune means business. It builds with a guitar and keyboard interplay for the melody line painted across the palette of both instruments. The robotically slithering chorus synth riff is perfect for Twister night as well as a definite moment to practice your isolations with that white sequins Michael Jackson glove and the man in the mirror. The pulsating rhythm provides ample motivation find a suitable piece of cardboard and get that breakdancing group back together with the Divine inspiration and bravado of The Blues Brothers. Topped with fun lyrics sung in a stylized stately more formal tone than “Whip It” and some of their more cartoonesque catalogue, it shows Devo can do serious while laying down a serious groove.

Later Is Now has that same 80’s dance party vibe as “The Politics Of Dancing”, the 1983 smash hit by The British new wave band Re–Flex off their album of the same name. Friends of mine in the Boston area routinely get down at our dance parties to tracks like “The Politics Of Dancing”, as well as several obligatory MJ tracks like “Billie Jean”, “PYT”, “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin'”, “Thriller”, and “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough.” This track also spikes the fun meter as Dr. Nostalgia discovered a new retro dance virus.

I can see this Devo tune packing dancefloors even today. With a track like Later Is Now, Kevin Bacon should have called Devo for backup in Footloose. I realize that’s quite a bold statement and no offense to Kenny Loggins—but if a group of guys in yellow jumpsuits wearing Red Domed hats and sunglasses showed up riding mopeds in your socially repressed religious community, you’d know the Gods of 80’s Dance Music have spoken. But if you still need a bit of help getting into character, put on your “Frankie Says Relax” tee, Choose Life sweatshirt, dial 867-5309 on your cell and try to set Rick Springfield up with Jenny instead of Jesse’s Girl. Tell Blondie call me, bye bye love, talk to ya later, then get down to “Later Is Now.”

When In Doubt, Listen To Man With Longer Beard #1: Meditation, Aphorisms & Yoga Sage Brushes With Wisdom

What follows is a grocery list of things I’ve learned from life and various approaches to living exploring Creativity & Spirituality—being an artist, student of meditation, regular fasting & yoga, internal yearning towards higher consciousness and becoming a more creative being for positive transformation. These are general principles and observations I try to live by and navigate the wilderness of Maya with. Some are Confucius sounding hence the jest with the title if the long bearded Chinese sage wanted to narcissistically self–aggrandize himself.

Here’s the first batch of Zen Brownies—Tasty, mouth–watering morsels to reduce consumption of bad karma and sweeten the recipe of your life:

1. Avoid creating bad karma. It’s a spring–loaded door. You may not only get hit but locked out.

2. Don’t think you’re better than anyone else or compare yourself to others. Are you getting better than YOU is the question that matters.

3. Give to people and share your experience, talents and knowledge. Why not water as many flowers in life as you can? You’ll make more beautiful scenery for yourself too.

4. If people really want to know you they will. You can’t force people into your life or try to keep them there.

5. Who you are is where you are in terms of consciousness regarding the choices you make.

6. Don’t pretend to be someone or something you’re not unless it’s an acting gig.

7. Give friendship without expecting anything in return but friendship.

8. Fear contracts, love expands, and love is really about taking risks, stepping outside your comfort level, doing things different from and outside social norms and the status quo.

9. When people are ready to know you, they’ll come into your life or come closer to you. Trying to convince or impress people is inauthentic and a waste of life energy.

10. Never tell yourself you have arrived. Your Soul will starve at the price of feeding lesser temporary needs.
